This shortcut is actually intended for the later laps, because if you managed to carry the blue Ultra Sacred Fire through the mansion section, you can blast through here at incredible speed without having to wind around the corner! What makes the shortcut odd is that it's practically useless on the first lap at the start of the race, as you're much better off going around and building up your Turbo Reserves with Power Sliding. It's actually possible to jump over these stones into a small side-area, and then use a wooden ramp to get back onto the track. At the start/finish line, you'll find a line of short stone blocks as part of the wall on the right-hand side of the track. The first shortcut on this track is a bit of an odd one. Nina's Nightmare Shortcuts Nina's Nightmare Shortcut #1 Practicing your racing line through these puddles is definitely worth doing. You'll want to avoid driving onto that stuff as your kart will be slowed down considerably like you're driving through grass.
When you get to Lap 2 on the track, a few of the hanging pumpkins just after the split section will have drooled their ectoplasm onto the track, and on Lap 3, all of them will have. If this is tricky for you, try using mid-air Brake Slides by hopping and then quickly holding the Brake Slide button whilst turning in the air. Approach each turn by driving along the right-hand wall, so that you can fit the turning circle into the turn. For most Driving Styles this won't be a problem, but for the Speed and Drift styles, it'll be more difficult. The mansion section at the end of the track is where your race will be won or lost, as it's vital that you hold Ultra Sacred Fire through it. Holding the Ultra Sacred Fire you gain from this Turbo Pad is vital in winning online races on this track. 
There is one Super Turbo Pad on the track, the large one just after you get through the Pumpkin Lord split and over the shortcut. 
Use this to figure out which path to take, especially since the left-hand path is obscured as you approach this section.
The Pumpkin Lord has a "tell", where he looks at the path he's currently stomping with his legs. This will change which side of the split will be stomped by the giant Pumpkin Lord: most players will prefer to go down the left-hand split as they'll be more easily able to Power Slide into the shortcut. Mid-way through the track is a ! Crate just in front of a split. If you struggle with them, Drift is good alternative. Speed is a very effective Driving Style for this track, although the two sharp turns in the mansion may cause trouble.
