It's never something a user asks for, it's something an admin does to make life easier for himself - less support calls, less toner replacements, etc.Īccording to this link, FF saves printer settings inside itself. I can't double check since I don't use Firefox on my computer, but I just remember this happening at times. Sometimes (in the past) those settings will override the print settings in other situations. You could check the settings of the printers under the admin account that you set it up with. Otherwise everyone would have desktop printers on their desks again. We are supposed to make our Users' life as simple as possible. Why should a user have to go into Printer Settings and select the tray on those rare occasions when we, as admins, can make their life easier by just giving them another printer to select. It's also great for when you have an application that has to print to a certain tray, but isn't used that often. It's a great way to make sure people only print in B&W on color printers, for example. If I understand you correctly, I would look at the user who is requesting that like he had two heads.
You install another printer for each different setting?
